A Great Wine with a Story
Bigi ‘07 Est! Est! Est! $9.99 btl / $113.89 cs
The tale of this wine’s origins begins back in the early Middle Ages.
A wine-loving German bishop, on his way to Rome to see the Pope, sent his valet ahead of his party to scout out inns serving good wine. Whenever the aide found such a place, he would scrawl "Est!" ("here it is!") on the side of the building. When the good fellow stopped in the hamlet of Montefiascone, just outside of Rome, he was so taken with the local wine that he emblazoned "Est! Est!! Est!!!" on the inn’s door. This wine is made from Trebbiano and Malvasia and it offers a pleasing pear and melon nose with straw scents. The peach and honeydew melon flavors are fresh and lively, picking up a bit of spice from the Malvasia, followed by a crisp finish that shows hints of almond and herbs.
